I see buses around here with one passenger on them.  Not economical,
that\'s where all the libtard taxes go.

Years ago I got transferred from our suburban location to the city where
I would have to pay to park. I considered taking the bus but would have
to drive over two miles to a parking area where I could take the bus.
In looking over the bus company\'s literature they mentioned passenger
miles and fuel usage. It calculated out to 9 mpg per passenger which was
much less than half what I got in my car at the time.

Ain\'t it grand that you got a PROVEN clinically insane trolling wanker to
talk to about your problems, dumb Frankie Boi, you troll-feeding senile
asshole? LOL

It is certainly a mixed blessing.

Funny thing is, we can\'t just turn off the porch light and hope that the
neighbors won\'t throw their garbage over the fence.

What happens in Ukraine affects the entire world. If they don\'t export
grain and cooking oil, that ripples out through the global economy, of
which we\'re a part.

It\'s a small world after all.

Wheat futures are down 20% from last year while 9% more land was planted
last winter in the US. I doubt the US farmers would cry themselves to
sleep if Russia and the Ukraine are too busy to harvest this year.

Although I\'m quite fond of U.S. farmers, they\'re not the only people in
the world.

open to the public.

Yes, that\'s the basic idea. A means of transport that is open to the

and are subject to regulations.

bike-share-scheme

https://www.freecycles.org/

About 10 years ago they built a bunch of bikes from parts and distributed
them around town. I don\'t know if they were inspired by the white bikes or
not. They were sort of frankenbikes but they were operational and well
tuned if not very pretty. The theory was you would take one, go wherever
you were going, and leave it for the next person. Some were trashed and
most disappeared.

Anybody can still go to freecycles, sort through the parts and build a
bike for free if you volunteer for an hour and a half breaking down
donations to usable parts and so forth. They have the tools and people to
help if you don\'t know how to do things. That part has been successful
since a person has sweat equity, no matter how minimal, in their bike.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dublinbikes

That one appears to work. Maybe they are more civilized in Dublin. I
interviewed a woman with a CS degree from U of Dublin who had worked on
the project. It was better organized than most since the bikes were
checked in and out of the stations. As it mentioned if you wanted to
return one but there wasn\'t a free slot at that station, and app would
show you the closest. Conversely if you wanted a bike the app could direct
you to a station with available bikes. The tracking also meant they could
transport bikes around if they got clustered.

Maybe something like that would work with cars but I can see too many
problems, like the drunk who hired the car puking on the seats and
staggering off.

Not sure what you read, but that article says that ultimately bike share
schemes have been a success the world over. I\'ve used the ones in Lyon and
they were great. Unfortunately, the ones in my city have failed but that
was because they were set up during covid and the business went bust. Am
buying my own ebike now.

Easily solved with a membership scheme like uber.

I can see that you miserable Trumptard can only see what you WANT to see
(exactly like your idiotic hero, Stumpie, keeps doing). Rentable bikes (paid
on the spot with Apps) are a huge success in Europe, actually so much that
some authorities think about somewhat limiting the success of rentable bikes
because of too many bikes getting parked in awkward positions (across
footpaths, in parking spaces for cars, in front of crosswalks, etc.).

Can\'t we just get rid of public transport? I asked Google Maps for a
route from my house to somewhere I want to go on holiday.

2 hours by car, 6 hours by public transport. Dafuq?

Even more ridiculous, 6 hours by public transport, 7 hours by bicycle!
Public transport is hardly faster than a bicycle!

1 day on foot! Trains go a whole 4 times faster than me walking!

Just close them down.

A taxi is also Public Transport.

No, as only one person uses it.

Not true. They have a plate that says [SP], that is, Public Service.
Same as Buses.

Why on earth would that have any meaning whatsoever? It\'s no more
public than my car, just me in it apart from the driver, going to where
I want to go, unlike a bus.

Taxis are public service, your car is not. No matter how much you rant.

Even if I use my neighbour\'s son\'s taxi?

What would work really well is people being nice. Whenever I see a

Do that in some parts of the US and we\'ll be reading about you in the
Daily Mail.

When I commuted to the university the first semester I had rides to and
fro from two guys that both flunked out. I ended up hitch hiking the
whole second semester. This was a long time ago and I had no trouble
getting rides or problems with the drivers.

The only hitchhikers I\'ve found who said they always get lifts quickly were two fucking gorgeous nineteen year olds. I went out of my way to take them where they were going, and got in late for work. My boss understood the excuse.

I was of course only referring to civilised countries. We grew out of
shooting everything.

Céline Figard (French pronunciation: [selin fiɡaʁ]; 23 May 1976[2] – 19
December 1995) was a French woman who went missing and was murdered
during a visit to the United Kingdom in December 1995. She accepted a
lift from a lorry driver at the Chieveley services on the M4 in
Chieveley, Berkshire, on 19 December, but never arrived at her
destination. Following an appeal for information on her whereabouts and
police enquiries, her body was discovered on 29 December, at a lay-by on
the A449 in Hawford, Worcestershire. A post-mortem examination
determined she had been strangled and bludgeoned to death.

Nov 16, 2007 — They are likely to focus on the murder of hitchhiker
Jackie Ansell-Lamb whose body was found in Mere, near Knutsford in 1970.

The trouble with media is they only report the times it happened, not the millions it didn\'t. Best to ignore all the shit you read in newspapers. It\'s high time they all closed down. I see they\'re struggling to get subscriptions.
